Pacific Raceways Invitational is joining forces with Come Race With Me in support of MultiCare Good Samaritan Foundation’s Come Walk With Me, a month-long fundraiser benefiting local breast health programs and services.
Lori and Stephen Newby have challenged their group of racers consisting of more than 50 individuals with mostly British cars, such as MG Midgets, Bugeye Sprites and Austin Minis — to pledge a dollar amount for every race lap completed during the Society of Vintage Race Enthusiasts (SOVREN) series’ racing season. They now extend that challenge to all racers of the 4th Annual Pacific Raceways Invitational. Proceeds will support critically needed breast cancer programs and services at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital. Spectators are also encouraged to donate to the cause.
100% of the money collected goes for breast health programs at MultiCare Good Samaritan Cancer Resource Center.
We all know someone who’s going through a breast cancer diagnosis or treatment or someone who’s battled the disease. In fact, one in eight women will develop breast cancer in her lifetime.
As Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October) approaches, we’re raising funds to help patients right here in our community. When you give today, you’re providing:
- Complimentary wigs and wig fittings for patients in treatment, which include custom color matching, trims and alterations.
- Gas and grocery gift cards to breast cancer patients.
- Cancer support groups and lymphedema classes for anyone impacted by cancer.
Racers are pledging money for each lap their cars do during the Racing Season culminating at the Pacific Raceways Invitational. Its not to late to get involved. Pledge your own car or gather pledges from friends, family, and associates or both options.
Don’t have a race car, support a friend with a pledge or simply give to the program.
With each racecar that makes its way around the track, adorned with a pink Come Race With Me ribbon, Lori is reminded of her friend and former MultiCare Good Samaritan Foundation director Barb Granger Herbert. Barb lost her breast cancer fight too soon and is the inspiration behind Lori’s longtime Foundation partnership. We race in remembrance of people like Barb, in celebration of breast cancer survivors making their victory laps and in solidarity with patients currently going through treatment.
Learn more or donate by visiting our registration booth at the event, the Newby paddock, or any driver with the pink ribbon on the car.
